Back in Action: Recruiting, Bowl Practices on the Menu

Hey, I’m back.

I didn’t miss a whole lot during my week off, and there’s no need to recap what did happen. Old news by now. But we’ve got a couple of things to mention here this morning.

Like recruiting. MSU picked up a pair of football commitments for the 2013 class on Sunday, and you can read about them on Bulldawgs247, or you can find a story in the hard copy of today’s Journal. Wide receiversĀ Jeremey Chappelle andĀ Corey Smith both come from the juco ranks and should help shore up a position that’s losing four seniors.

Right now, though, those four seniors still have one last game to play. MSU is in the midst of preparations for the Gator Bowl against Northwestern (Jan. 1, 11 a.m., ESPN2). Practices began Friday, and starting Wednesday they’ll be open to the public and media for a few days. Following an open scrimmage at Davis Wade Stadium on Sunday, practices will be closed off. The Bulldogs will wrap up their pre-holiday work Dec. 20, break for Christmas, and then report to Jacksonville on Dec. 26.

So we’ll have plenty to talk and write about from now ’til Christmas. And in case you’re wondering, my show at BulldogSportsRadio.com is back on the air this week. You can hear LockeDown Corner at 7 a.m. every weekday. Check it out.

I am the online content coordinator for DJournal.com. Previously at the Journal, I covered Mississippi State athletics (2008-13), high schools (2004-08), and was on the copy desk (2002-04). I'm working on a recipe for bacon-flavored coffee, which would solve all the world's problems.
