Got some softball for you. Even if you don’t follow the sport, you can probably figure out that MSU pitcher Alison Owen had a heckuva weekend. She tossed a pair of complete-game shutouts, striking out 31 batters over 14 innings. First she struck out 15 against Wichita State on Saturday, breaking a school record. The next day, she topped that with 16 Ks of SIU-Edwardsville.
Owen’s exploits led to her being named the SEC co-pitcher of the week. On the year, the Georgia transfer is 5-1 with a 0.52 ERA, 65 strikeouts and just one walk. On Monday, we caught up with Owen as well as MSU coach Vann Stuedeman. I’ve got some video below. Enjoy.
