Preseason Camp One Day Away

The countdown to Aug. 31 begins in earnest tomorrow when Mississippi State opens preseason camp. The first practice is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start, and it’s open to the media and public. The first six practices, in fact, will be open. Here’s the schedule of those open sessions (*–indicates split-squad practices).

• Thursday, 5 p.m.

• Friday, 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.*

• Saturday, 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.*

• Sunday, noon

After the first four days, everyone is closed out from viewing practices. MSU will move operations to the South Farm practice fields on Monday and will remain there through Aug. 16. Two-a-days begin Wednesday. There will still be media opportunities after most of the closed practices, so I’ll be updating y’all the best I can on what we can’t see happening with plenty of stories and videos. The on-campus media day is Aug. 13.

MSU opens the 2013 season Aug. 31 against Oklahoma State, at Reliant Stadium in Houston.

I am the online content coordinator for DJournal.com. Previously at the Journal, I covered Mississippi State athletics (2008-13), high schools (2004-08), and was on the copy desk (2002-04). I'm working on a recipe for bacon-flavored coffee, which would solve all the world's problems.

Let us know how Chris Jones looks. I’m betting he doesn’t red shirt.
