STARKVILLE – Mississippi State has released its 2014 baseball schedule highlighted by 35 games at Dudy Noble Field.

The Bulldogs, who were the national runner-up in the College World Series in 2013, have 56 regular season games on the docket and will play their first 16 games at home before traveling to Arizona for a three-game tilt March 7-9.

MSU opens the season Feb. 14 with a four-game series against Hofstra. The Bulldogs will play 22 games against eight different opponents that participated in the NCAA Tournament this past spring.

The non-conference portion of the schedule features four new foes – Hoftstra, Holy Cross, Mount Saint Mary and Southern Illinois.

State begins conference play March 14 at Georgia and will host Vanderbilt the following weekend.

The Diamond Dogs will host instate rival Ole Miss for Super Bulldog Weekend April 11-13. The two teams will meet again April 22 for the annual Governor’s Cup matchup in Pearl.

Mississippi State will also play Southern Miss on April 8 at Trustmark Park, home of the Mississippi Braves.

The SEC Tournament will be held May 20-25 in Hoover, Ala., and NCAA Tournament play begins May 30 and continues until June 25.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
