Anthony Hines III committed to Mississippi State on Saturday (Logan Lowery/ Daily Journal)

Mississippi State added its first commitment for the 2017 class over the weekend as linebacker Anthony Hines III gave his early pledge to the Bulldogs while on an unofficial visit.

The 6-foot-1, 201-pounder from Dallas, Texas also has offers from Akron and Montana.

Hines also visited the Bulldogs campus over the summer for camp which is where he earned his offer. The Episcopal standout starts on both sides of the ball also lining up at running back and is a member of Team USA.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
