Peggy Prescott, mother to Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott, passed away Sunday morning at the age of 52 after a lengthy battle with colon cancer.
Dak Prescott is the youngest of Peggy’s three children along with older brothers Tad and Jace. Dak Prescott shaved his head prior to the season to support his mother’s battle with cancer.
“The Mississippi State football family is completely saddened by the passing of Dak Prescott’s mom, Peggy,” MSU coach Dan Mullen said in a statement from the university. “They shared an extraordinary mother-son relationship. We know Dak will carry on her great strength and kindness. Please pray for Dak and his family as they go through this difficult time. We also kindly ask that you please respect their privacy.”
A benefit called “Huddle Up for Cancer” was held on Peggy’s behalf in Vinton, La., on Oct. 26 to help raise money to start a foundation to help with the needs of families coping with a family member with terminal cancer. Over $2,600 was raised through online donations.
More details will come on Monday but the Daily Journal sports department sends its condolences to the Prescott family.
