Mississippi State sophomore defensive lineman Chris Jones joins teammate Benardrick McKinney on the watch list for the Rotary Lomabardi Award.

The 2013 Freshman All-American from Houston appeared in all 13 games last season making three starts. Jones notched 32 tackles and three sacks while tying for the team lead with seven stops for loss.

Jones and McKinney are two of 123 players from 76 universities that made the Lombardi Award watch list.

The award is named after coaching legend Vince Lombardi and is presented annually to the top collegiate lineman or linebacker. A dozen semifinalists will be narrowed down to four finalists before a winner is selected on Dec. 10 at the Bayou Music Center in Houston, Texas.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
