It appears that Vick Ballard’s season is over before it even began.

The Indianapolis Colts running back and former Mississippi State standout was carted off the practice field Friday after suffering what is believed to be a torn Achilles tendon according to NFL.com.

Ballard missed most of 2013 with a torn ACL after starting the Colts opener. The 5-foot-10, 226-pounder from Pascagoula was entering his third season in the NFL having appeared in 17 games and making 13 starts in the backfield.

For his career, Ballard has carried 224 times for 877 yards and two touchdowns while hauling in 18 passes for 147 yards and another score.

Ballard lettered for the Bulldogs from 2010-11 after transferring in from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
